KauaiHI Christmas Events 2024

If you prefer a bright Christmas to a white Christmas, Kaua'i, Hawaii's Garden Island, features plenty of things to do for the holidays. With warm weather, refreshing ocean breezes and plenty of sun, this is where Santa probably goes to vacation once his big night is done. And you can, too! Here are The Merry Best things to do in Kauai, Hawaii for Christmas in 2023.
Kauai Festival of Lights
The highlight of the Christmas season in Kaua'i is the Kauai Festival of Lights, which takes place at the Historic County Building at Lihue County Park in Lihue. From Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, the building and grounds are decorated with thousands of Christmas lights in an amazing tropical holiday display. Best of all, this is a free Christmas event, and it's always nice to find free things to do in notoriously expensive Kauai.
November 23rd - January 1st, every night (including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), from 6-11 p.m. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus on the County Building porch on Fridays in December from 6-8 p.m.

Lights on Rice Christmas Parade
One of the most fun family things to do for Christmas in Kaua'i, like just about everywhere else, is a Christmas parade. The Lights on Rice parade is just the ticket to kick off the Christmas season on the Garden Island. Held annually on the first Friday in December, the parade proceeds down Rice Street in Lihue and now boasts over 60 entries and 3,000 performers! Between the floats, music, people and Rice St., which is itself decorated with Christmas lights and decorations, Lights on Rice is a magical experience.
December 1, 2023. Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Rice St will be closed starting at 5:30.

Waimea Light Parade
If the Lights on Rice Christmas parade in Lihue is a great way to kick off the Christmas season, the Waimea Light Parade is the perfect event to celebrate the season right before Christmas Day itself. This annual parade travels down Main St in Waimea, Kaua'i just two days before Christmas, and with floats and performers illuminated with Christmas lights, this Christmas parade is sure to get you in spirit of the season, even in tropical Kauai. At the end of the parade route, at Hofgaard Park, a free Christmas concert awaits to wrap up the evening.
December 23rd, 2023 - The Christmas parade starts at 6:15 p.m. and is followed by the Christmas concert at Hofgaard Park.
Both the parade and the Christmas concert are free events
